CBG celebrates 25 years as a Garden for All!

The Columbus Botanical Garden is a labor of love from the Columbus community spanning over the past 25 years.

In 1998, Philip M. Adams had the idea to design a botanical garden for his master thesis. The George M. Adams family then donated 20 acres of land to bring this botanical garden to life and a year later, a group of Columbus citizens generously gave their time to build what is today known as the Columbus Botanical Garden (CBG). 

This year, CBG is celebrating 25 years of serving the community as an indispensable asset. It has grown exponentially over the years, especially in the past 3 years in garden development, educational programming, and bringing people together as a garden for all. Today, the Garden has 40 acres of preserved greenspace in North Columbus with 4 developed acres and a 20-year Master Plan to include more exciting features, including a family garden! 

The mission of CBG is to celebrate the beauty, inspiration, and wonder of the natural world and to educate our current and future stewards of its care. The Garden fosters a love and curiosity for the natural world in adults and children through educational programs and provides many volunteer opportunities to the community. CBG has donated thousands of pounds of produce to local food banks over the past 3 years for people who don’t have access to healthy foods. Having a botanical garden in the community gives anyone the opportunity to get outside, walk serene trails, enjoy new plants and wildlife, and experience the many benefits of nature. 

Now through October, CBG is celebrating 25 years with our first-ever traveling exhibit, “Art of Nature, Walk on the Wild Side,” which includes 12 large-scale animal topiaries throughout our gardens. Guests will experience something new every time they visit and this is the first of more of these exhibits in the years to come. You are invited to explore and experience our gardens in this unique way! Make sure to check out the ongoing educational classes and workshops for adults and children, as well as art show opportunities for local artists. (Art of Nature is presented in partnership with the Columbus Cultural Arts Alliance/Visit Columbus and TSYS.
