Not-So-Scary-Halloween!
Bring your little ghosts and goblins to The BOOtanical Garden - Not so Scary Halloween to haunt the Columbus Botanical Garden while participating in many fun and educational activities, carnival games, and crafts. Upon the completion of each activity, the kids will receive candy! We will also provide fun activities such as a costume contest, scavenger hunts, facepainting, and more classic fall festival contests. Throughout the day there will be Storytime, Magic Shows, Live Bat Shows, and Carnivorous plant programs. This event is for children 12 and under and their families. The Garden is a safe space to explore and learn about nature while incorporating the whimsy and spirit of Halloween.
Also join us for our Scarecrow Contest this year. Judging will take place at BOOtanical!

Volunteer
Interested in volunteering for our events? Well, we need your help! Come sign up to set up crafts for kids, run one of our carnival games, help out with our contests, or help with set up or break down. Our volunteers are what keep the Garden alive and we're so excited to have you help us with one of our most fun events of the year!

Experience the wonder of BOOtanical with Live Bat Shows! A-Z Animals will teach us all about Halloween's favorite flying animal!

Carnivorous Plant Presentation
See our presentation about MAN-EATING PLANTS! Just kidding, they only eat bugs. Learn all about the cacophony of crucial critter-consuming carnivorous plants!

Costume Contest

If you wear your Elsa costume like its a second skin, then enter our costume contest to win fun prizes! Bonus points for singing "Let it Go!"
Pie Eating Contest
Have you ever looked up from your empty plate and seen everyone else at the table still eating? What's embarrassing at Longhorn Steakhouse is a first place finish in this competition!
3 Legged Race
Ever had a friend you're so close with you feel like you guys share a limb? Well now you really do! Tie your leg to your bestie's and race other teams of two!
Potato Sack Race
Think you run better when you're waist deep into a potato sack? Well this is the contest just for you! (Sack does not come with potatoes.)

We’re bringing back the Annual Columbus Botanical Garden Scarecrow contest! Our Walking Trail is lined with over 25 festive scarecrows created by schools, garden clubs, individuals, local businesses, etc. You have the opportunity to VOTE for your favorite scarecrows in this fun community contest all throughout October! Scarecrow Winners will be announced at Columbus BOOtanical Halloween event.
